“The Effect of Fast-Food Restaurants on Obesity and Weight Gain” hosted by Janet
Currie, Stefano Della Vigna, Enrico Moretti, and Vikram Pathania, they measured
on the students of California the obesity rate, which ranked 33% during
1999~2007. Based on CDC, applying NHANES data reports, the obesity has risen by
about 10 percentage points for 20~34 year old females over the past 10 years and
that the average weight in this group has increased by about 6.7 kilograms. In
addition to the paper, the fast food restaurant within 0.5 miles of a residence
increase weight gain by 49 grams over 9 months, which over 10 years calculates
to 650 grams. However, the industry influenced substantially larger to female
students rather than compared to the effects on male students. Therefore, the
location of a fast food restaurant considerably associates with the determinant
of obesity Based on 2010, domestic fast food restaurants of Lotteria,
McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC, respectively marked annual sales revenue of
10%. The factors that led to a success were that the industries applied
providing low price with high quality food. McDonalds applied a lunch set menus
that costs 3,000 Won and Burger King applied a burger costing 1,900 Won mainly
targeting the consumers who are seeking low price food. Despite from the
aspects of price, in the near future the fast food industry is projected revenue
increase in 2010 of 3.0% to $183.99 billion, up from 3.3% decline to $178.59
